Project Details

Mike Lowe has taught at Manchester Metropolitan University for nearly 20 years. During his time here he developed a particular interest in employability. In this video we chat to Mike about the Enhancing Employability unit that he offers.

Students enrolled onto this unit are responsible for defining and writing their own learning outcomes and develop the unit around their career aspirations. These could be a number of different things. Students might decide to get a certain number of hours of work experience in a particular sector, or do an internship. They may wish to gain professional accreditation or go for additional skills training, or to focus on improving a portfolio or personal website.  Students then take the necessary steps to complete those targets, and in doing so gain a wealth of experience which helps prepare them for life after graduation. In the video we speak to Mike about the unit, and hear from two students about their experiences and the benefits this unit has had on their development.
