News from the Learning and Teaching Unit

There have been some changes of personnel in the LTU since the last edition. Nicola Whitton and Anita Gill have left the unit while Neil Ringan has joined as a Senior Lecturer in Learning Technologies.

Neil has been involved in the use of technology-based approaches to learning and teaching since the mid-1980s, initially to support his role as a lecturer in chemistry. He has held a number of roles in educational and academic development, supporting colleagues in a range of areas including peer observation of teaching, portfolio development, assessment and curriculum design as well as learning technologies. Prior to joining MMU, Neil was Head of e-learning at the University of Bolton where he was responsible for implementing the e-learning strategy and undertaking a range of consultancy and research projects. Before joining Bolton he was Director of the Learning Innovation Centre at the University of Huddersfield. He is also an accredited PRINCE2 project manager.
