The other word for this part of the process is simply ‘teaching’ - ie whatever you would normally do to prepare students for assessment, which would usually consist of planning and delivering a mixture of structured activities and independent study. Different types of assignment task may have different support requirements, and specific guidance is given in the pages on individual tasks if appropriate.
