Jeremy Finch is a senior lecturer in Nursing. Whilst doing a PhD in Critical Care Education he began to consider alternative assessment methods for his Level 6 Nursing students. Previously students were assessed via presentation or essay, something that Jeremy felt was hindering students who often struggled to demonstrate a practical skillset in an academic context. In this video he talks through the process of re-writing the marking scheme and assessing students using oral methods, which allow them to better demonstrate their skills.
