CeLT is developing a ‘New to Teaching’ course for Associate Lecturers and Postgraduate students which will have its first delivery in September this year.
New to Teaching is an introductory course which will help participants to develop teaching skills in a supportive environment. The focus is on practical techniques for planning and delivering teaching and assessment activities. Participants will work interactively with colleagues from across the university, facilitated by experienced staff from MMU’s Centre for Learning and Teaching.

  • After completing the course participants will be able to:

    Analyse student needs
  • Create a session plan
  • Choose from a range of learning and teaching approaches
  • Consider resources available to support learning
  • Support student progress through assessment

Challenging Assessment Initiative

The challenging assessment initiative is continuing throughout the next academic year, building to a major conference in September 2009. Remember to look out for events on the Challenging Assessment website and let us know if there is any aspect of assessment you would like hear more about. Some of the events lined up so far for next term are:

  • Faculty open meetings with Robert Ready
  • Assessment Clinic
  • Assessing Reflection’ round table
  • A Plagiarism event (more details available soon)
