Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Grants

MMU UTA Scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL) research grants

The purpose of the SOTL research grants is to promote scholarly work in Manchester Met which leads to the development of staff research capacity and the enhancement of the learning experience for students, as articulated in the principles of Learning, Teaching and Assessment embedded in the university’s Education Strategy.

This year we introduced an additional way to apply for SoTL funds and get involved in a small scale research project.  In addition to the usual UTA sponsored SoTL projects, the Pro-Vice Chancellor’s SoTL scholarships are a range of projects proposed by the PVC Education, which are focused on issues of strategic importance to the University, and closely aligned with our education strategy.  PVC projects offer a way for staff to contribute to university-wide activity, and to develop an evidence base around their teaching and learning profile.

Anyone with an establishment teaching role at Manchester Met is eligible to apply, as an individual or as a group. Applications are also welcome from staff with other learning support roles, although in some cases it may be appropriate to include a colleague with a teaching role in the project team. Applications will be judged by a panel and evaluated against the quality of the proposal contained within the sections of application form.

The 2019 call for SOTL grants will be advertised on this page and around the university when it opens.
